Congratulations to our Richard Law Award 2022 winners
In honour of the late Richard Law, the Global Child Dental Fund (UK) has offered awards for the ninth consecutive year to dental students in India. Post-graduate dental students from all over India who took up the Advanced Dental Leadership Training competed for the award by submitting research proposals for funding.
The research proposals were assessed by Dr Sreenivasan V (Professor in Oral Medicine and Radiology) Dr Rahul Rao (Professor in Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics), Dr Amar Katre (Professor in Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry) and Dr Ramchandra Kabir (Professor in Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics). Dr Ashwin Jawdekar (Professor in Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry) was the Chairman of the Award Committee.
Winner:

Research topic: Pragmatic cognitive association and evaluation of a novel “Picture Assisted Illustration Reinforcement” Communication System (PAIR) on oral hygiene status, salivary and microbiological parameters in 7-18 years childrenwith autism spectrum disorders: A double-blind randomized controlled trial
“My research based on a novel “Picture Assisted Illustration Reinforcement” (PAIR) Communication System aims at educating children with ASD on oral hygiene practices in the form of attractive pictures and illustrations. This innovative method can vouch asa promising tool to enhance functional communication among children with ASD.
I have been closely admiring the enormous work by Global Child Dental Fund (GCDFund) whose mission is to ensure that the underprivileged children from deprived communities around the world have access to dental care and do not suffer from obvious dental decay in their lifetime. The study which I am pursuing requires resources and sound financial support for its successful implementation.
It is a great honour and privilege to receive this prestigious award “Richard Law Award 2022”. This moment is incredible and it has definitely encouraged me to do my best, with due diligence and gratitude towards the organization. This has also given me the platform and a boost to continue my quest. Rest assured, the prize money will be entirely utilized towards material procurement, successful implementation and fulfilment of the research.”
First Runner-up:

significant moment in my life. I am really very grateful to my Guide for motivating me to participate in this competition and my HOD for constant support. This achievement has inspired me to further excel in my research project and I would like to thank the Global Child Fund for giving me this opportunity. Second Runner-up:
Dr. Sunder Shivani Kiran, Post-graduate Student, Department of Pediatric
and Preventive Dentistry, Pacific Dental College and Hopital, Udaipur, Rajasthan.
Research topic: Comparative evaluation of clinical success of aesthetic flexible crown with stainless steel crown in primary mandibular molar teeth: A 12 month split-mouth prospective randomized controlled trial.
“I have always looked up to my seniors who have achieved great feats in the field of Pediatric Dentistry, who have won many prestigious awards; Richard Law Scholarship being one of them. The constant encouragement and guidance from Dr. Dinesh Rao (HOD) motivated me to apply for the same. My interest in research and academics drew me towards this scholarship. I am very grateful to the whole committee of Global Child Dental Fund for giving me this prestigious honor. The prize money will be used for my future research projects which will indeed be helpful for the advancements in the field of Pediatric Dentistry.
